How Long Does It Take to Settle a Personal Injury Case?
Watch the following educational legal video by New York Personal Injury Lawyer Anthony Rattoballi as he explains how long it takes to settle a personal injury case in New York.
Every case is unique unto itself. If you’re suing multiple defendants, it’s likely to take a while to settle. On the other hand, some cases settle right away. For instance, if the insurance company that covers the person you sue agrees that they’re responsible and that you have an injury, they will sometimes make you a settlement offer prior to filing a lawsuit, but that’s rare. Basically, you have to file a lawsuit, go through the discovery stages of your lawsuit, get on a calendar, and either settle the lawsuit or try it. That process, from start to finish, is likely to take at least a year and a half to two years.
If you’ve been injured, you can count on the experience of the attorneys at Aiello & Cannick. Anthony J. Rattoballi brings over 30 years of legal experience to the firm and has spent much of his career focusing on personal injury – many of his cases have ended in settlements exceeding $1 million.
